WORLD TITLE SHOT FOR DEKADA'S KANDI WYATT
Will Calgary See It's Very First World Champion in Boxing?
Dekada Corp. Feb 8, 2019
Since Calgary native, Kandi Wyatt, joined the ranks with Dekada, she has never failed to impress. Her team, made up of Kevin McDermott and Dale Brown, have brought out an intestinal fortitude that proves there is something special about this young professional boxer. Her current undefeated record stands at 8-0 and Dekada has put her to the test bringing in a tougher opponent each time.
"In order to truly know if you have it..." says Dekada promoter, Michael Short. "you have to fight tough opponents, eventually facing the toughest."
The 27 year old Wyatt, just came off a major victory against, then undefeated, Dalila Velasquez at Dekada Contender on January 19th in Calgary. Promoter, Michael Short, entered the ring, after her win, to announce that Kandi will be in the Main event on March 30th which was well deserved.
A few days later, Dekada received a message from Team Empire Boxing that would remove Kandi from the main event spot but for very good reason. Wyatt was offered to fight 10-1 Christina Linardatou of Athens, Greece for the WBO World Title in the Junior Welterweight Division. Though the fight will be on Linardatou's home turf in Athens, Kandi feels confident.
"She deserves this." Says Short. "Each time out we have found tougher opponents and each time out she has dominated the fight. It is becoming harder and harder to find fighters locally because most won't answer the call. If Kandi brings home the gold, she will be the first world champion in boxing for Calgary."
The fight will take place on March 24, 2019 in Athens, Greece. Stay tuned for more developments.
